Organization, Mission, and Goals:

Description: A university-based society dedicated to stimulating protection of the environment and natural resources for a sustainable development.

Mission: To serve as the interface between the university, the economy, the environment and society in the search for sustainable development.

Goals: Preservation of systems and natural resources for future generations based on equity, justice, and community development.

III. Organization's Involvement in U.S.-Mexican Border Environment

Current Border Environment Projects and Activities:

Geohydrological studies. Waste management systems. Sustainable rural tourism. Controlling urban growth. Systemic environmental impact models. Studies of environmental education and sustainability in families. Training and environmental education.

We are new, so we have made only limited local progress. We will add to this section later as our projects progress.

We are utilizing new forms of horizontal organization, with interdisciplinary involvement, intensive use of networks, and innovative policies like virtuality and no material growth. In this way we use learning by experience and systemic thinking as concrete ways of working.
