II. Description of Organization

Organization, Mission, and Goals:

The California Resources Agency administers 18 Departments, Boards, Commissions, and Conservancies with a work force of 12,000 and an annual budget of approximately $2 billion. The primary responsibilities of the Resources Agency include coordination of interdepartmental programs, such as the CALFED Bay-Delta Program and the Natural Community Conservation Planning (NCCP) program, oversight of resources-related legislative issues, and coordination of departmental budgets within the Resources Agency.

Current Border Environment Projects and Activities:

The Resources Agency is represented on the California Border Coordinators Committee and participates in the Border XXI process, the CEC Transboundary Environmental Impact Assessment effort, and the CEC Pilot GPA effort to protect the marine and coastal environment between Ensenada, Baja California and Encinitas, California.

The Resources Agency has worked with the State of Baja California to coordinate efforts to protect biodiversity and to protect the marine and coastal environment (see above).
