II. Description of Organization

Organization, Mission, and Goals:

California Forests works for the preservation and sustainable use of the forests of Baja California, Mexico and California, U.S.A. We have begun our work by focusing on the Sierra de San Pedro Mártir in Mexico. We formed a year ago; we are in an organization phase.

III. Organization's Involvement in U.S.-Mexican Border Environment

Current Border Environment Projects and Activities:

We are taking part in designing an environmental education program for the Californias which will cover both sides of the border region.

Past Border Environment Projects and Activities:

We are supporting the proposal to designate the Sierra San Pedro Martir a nature reserve, which we plan to present to the appropriate authorities. We are also working on a proposal for an interpretive center in those mountains.
